Kampala-based Congolese producer Chrisman is back on Hakuna Kulala for a lengthy new album.?Dozage?lands on 31 October and features link-ups with plenty of Hakuna Kulala and Nyege Nyege affiliates such as?MC Yallah?and?Aunty Rayzor?as well as?Ecko Bazz, Blaq Bandana and Tracey the Rapper. It?s been described as ?35 tracks of mutant club music? that bring together sounds and influences spanning ?trap, Afro-Portugese tarraxo, hardstyle, amapiano, drill, rave, gqom and Afro house?. Mark Leckey said: ?Spending time in Margate, where the horizon is ever present, I found out the origin of the phrase ?in the offing? and its sense of the near future moving inexorably towards us. I wanted to see how young artists and musicians would respond to this idea of the offing, with its sense of promise and foretelling, of auguries and harbingers, of looking out to the horizon to see what is coming.? As Karl Lagerfeld once observed of Jeanne Lanvin: ?Her image wasn?t as strong as that of Chanel because she was a nice old lady and not a fashion plate.? That enigmatic quality freed the house?s team to shape a tight collection that was rooted in 1920s style despite it being a period when Lanvin?s most contemporaneously revered volumes were themselves slightly out of time. There was some highly impressive chain and pearl detailing that created a wonderful opalescence on fringe-edged or pleat-fronted and cuffed dresses. And there were hints of the medieval (a Lanvin 1.0 motif) in cross-laced and keyhole heart necklines. In the look book, but not on show at the presentation, was a concession to that volume in hotly colored tailoring. Artists confirmed for the free live event, which will take place on 12 October, are Deena Abdelwahed, Floating Points and Olof Dreijer. The Stone Island Presents London Roundhouse date marks a return from the curatorial project ? helmed by Italian brand Stone Island and?C2C Festival?(formerly known as Club to Club) ? to the famed venue following a pair of prior editions hosted at the Roundhouse. For her debut solo collection Tolu Coker took us back to her motherland. The collection was a celebration of African spirituality featuring feminine cuts and tailoring staples that felt like a breath of fresh air following the?quiet luxury?mood of?last season.
