As a self-diagnosed shoe addict, pointed toe sandals and slingbacks might be my favorite of the 2024 fashion trends?though they had to grow on me. (Before I could fully adopt the trend, I had to erase the image of the Wicked Witch under Dorothy?s house from my mind.) Now, I see the shoes for their chic ability to elongate your legs and add sass to a look. Try pairing a pointed-toe with a long trouser or jean, letting just the tip of the shoe make its point?metaphorically and literally.

?I love the idea of investing in timeless, versatile pieces that I know I?ll love for years to come,? says one stylist, Ray Carter. Another Stitch Fix stylist, Stephanie Arroyo, tells us that she’s excited for the ?denim-on-denim? looks from the 2000s to make a reappearance. ?It?s classic without being too dressy or casual,? she notes.
Playtime’s over. Menswear is heading toward sober tones and severe structure. The fun pops of color that have animated our wardrobes of late will fade into depressing hues of black, gray, and brown. Don Draper and other dourly-clad men will rise again as style touchstones. ?Samuel Hine
As Levi?s celebrates the 150th anniversary of its iconic 501 jeans this year, denim has never been so on-trend. Among the styles spotted on the catwalks, numerous denim total looks emerged. At the Chanel and Valentino shows, discreet casual cuts offered an elegant touch to the denim total look. For a most-wanted, bling, jet-set style, the denim total look offered a clever washed-out finish at The Attico, and in white with gold jewels at Schiaparelli. At Balenciaga, Demna combined a jacket and wide-leg pants in light denim with a trompe l?oeil tulle top, and at Diesel, Glenn Martens combined different washes on a sleeveless zipped top and belted pantaboots. British brands David Koma and Alexander McQueen rethought their iconic silhouettes in raw denim ? the biker jacket and mini skirt for one, and the corset for the other. Finally, the black denim jacket was extended into a tone-on-tone skirt for the young designer Alain Paul.
