Green Bay Packers Hawaiian Aloha Shirt For Big Fans
We should begin by highlighting that the resounding message woven into the SS24 collections was that it?s time to prepare for the boldest Hollywood styles to infiltrate the mainstream. Much like how the naked dress became ubiquitous far beyond the red carpet, the current celeb-adored trend of forgoing pants is making its way into everyday attire, too. But don?t fret if you?re not quite ready to take on the new year in an ensemble that screams Look Ma, no pants! Many of 2023?s hero pieces including maxi skirts, office-core garments, and pretty much anything in the stealth wealth category are coming with us into the new year? but with an extra twist.
All eyes on brand. Brand marketing is expected to be back in the spotlight as the fashion industry manages a switch away from performance marketing. Brands may benefit from forging emotional connections with consumers as marketers rewrite playbooks to emphasise long-term brand building.
If the SS24 runways are any indication, fashion has put its foot down firmly on the sock side of the socks with heels and sandals debate. At Victoria Beckham, Givenchy, Phillip Lim, and Anteprima, models wore sheer, nearly-knee-high socks with sleek pumps, open-toed sandals, and demure ballet flats. Etro and Moschino took things one step further: the former went for full-on statement socks worn with sandals and strappy summer flats, while the latter layered frilly ankle socks over lace tights for a more-is-more approach to the trend.
Sequins were worn down the runway throughout New York Fashion Week, but we were especially drawn to the chilliest iterations of this glittering, party-approved trend. At Colin LoCascio and Sergio Hudson, large paillettes in teardrop and floral shapes breathed new life into otherwise simple statement pieces. Meanwhile, at Kate Spade, tiny chartreuse sequins gave a sheath dress the look of neon chainmail.
In fact one of the biggest current style trends might just be the idea of fixing, adapting and making do. In 2023 SOJO the app which facilitates door-to-door alterations and repairs saw its bookings triple; The Seam, another clever on-demand tailoring and repair service saw its revenue grown by 300%, it is also now the official partner to Net-a-porter, Mr Porter and Matches. This coupled with the fact that our Vinted/eBay/Vestiaire compulsions are now so great that the government is eyeing up our resale earnings for tax, suggests that perhaps the obsession with what?s shiny and new might just be starting to wane. Or at least the understanding that most of the time you can find the ?new? trends happily waiting for you in a deep Depop scroll.
