One of the hardest, yet most fun, parts about my job is trying to predict what will sell 12 months in advance by identifying and choosing the top 2024 fashion trends to lean into throughout the year. From studying the runways to gaining inspiration from style icons, to letting my creativity run a bit wild, it?s safe to say I?ve done my research on the fashion trends that?ll soon take over your feeds.
Then comes the minidress. At Chanel, Miu Miu, and Versace, the garment adopts a deceptively wise sixties-inspired style. Conversely, designer John Galliano at Maison Margiela offers an effective punkish and baroque minidress, while Andreadamo introduces the piece in a range of nude drapes. This Fashion Week, the Marni, Missoni, and Dsquared2 shows bet on a more-than-mini dress, which already signals next summer?s viral trend.
Gone are the days when sportswear was reserved solely for sporting activities. In what is likely something of a hangover from the pandemic’s lockdown aesthetic of daily loungewear, sportswear staples have slowly been infiltrating our everyday wardrobes of late – but never more so than for spring 2024. Hooded sweatshirts are now supersize and have taken the place of casual day dresses, zip-up track-tops in monochrome are the perfect pairing piece for your favourite denim, and cropped leggings – somewhat reminiscent of the 60s pedal pusher – are a bona fide look to pair with heeled pumps. Comfort dressing? You don’t have to tell us twice.
Bows aren?t just for your hair anymore (though you can wear them there, too). They started appearing all over the place last spring, with brands adding them to seemingly everything?from jackets to shoes. And according to Pinterest, searches for ?bow outfit? have increased by 190 percent. You can add a mini clip or single bow to your hair or go all in with bow-accented blouses, ballet flats, and accessories.
The runway was on fire at The Blonds, with the incomparable designers showcasing the power of “fuego” in Latin American cultures. “It’s a declaration of identity, a celebration of life, and an affirmation of the enduring flame that burns within every Latin heart,” the show notes explained.
