Los Angeles Rams Short Sleeve Button Up Tropical Hawaiian Shirt HHW017
Last season, the color of the moment was a fiery red. This season, however, it?s all about calming shades of blue. Across the globe, this color has been a constant presence on the runways, from Jason Wu, Proenza Schouler, and LaQuan Smith in New York to Emilia Wickstead and J.W. Anderson in London to Fendi and Alberta Ferretti in Milan. We expect to see this color everywhere next season. And if you can?t wait that long, there are plenty of ways to wear it now, too.
The Paris Haute Couture Week trend of models donning fashion armor continued in earnest at NYFW. At Retrof?te, the trend took the shape of shiny separates in a mixed-metal color palette. At Ralph Lauren, curve-hugging gowns of bronze were both sleek and sultry, while LaPointe’s sheer silver maxi dresses took a more loose-fitting, draped approach.
A surprise trend this Fashion Week, the leather skirt is competing with the miniskirt ? minimalist black leather skirts by Courr?ges, nineties-inspired low waist skirts by Miu Miu, and wrap skirts with sexy straps at Givenchy. The leather skirt was a straight, influenced by the biker trend, at Andreadamo and Prada, or maxi for a minimalist femme fatale look at Khaite. For colorful models, the skirt was slit with red and black striped at Chanel, knotted in a pale green leather at Bottega Veneta, and wrapped in red leather at Herm?s.
If you’re catching on that menswear moves are either long or short, no in-between, then welcome to the party. Like my colleague pointed out, there are only two coat lengths now, and we’ve mentioned the shorter one. Option two: let it hit your knees. Nothing’s more dramatic than watching a person in a flowing, unbuttoned coat going swoosh-swoosh as they walk down the street looking for a place to score a bacon-egg-and-cheese. ?Tyler Chin
