Embrace minimalism in SS24 with the micro bag trend. This season, fashion is taking a compact turn as designers spotlight the allure of small-scale style. Whether it?s a dainty crossbody or a tiny tote that packs a powerful style punch. Make a statement with these small yet impactful accessories, perfect for carrying just the essentials. As a trend embraced by the likes of Self Portrait, micro bags are set to be the standout choice for the season.
What will you be wearing next year? The good news is that you probably already own most of spring?s key elements, and that clever styling ? a splash of red here, a crisp white shirt there ??will serve as easy updates. Ballerinas and Mary-Janes are going nowhere, nor a well-cut blazer. And carrying a full-to-bursting bowling bag stuffed with last night?s high heels, a spare pair of socks, your notebook, wallet, keys and some paracetamol, is no longer anything to be ashamed of, thanks to Miuccia Prada and Miu Miu. The designer said her show was an exploration of modern beauty: ?Not beauty, but beauties, an embracing of unique characters, the joy of life.? Momentarily, it gave us something to smile about.
As a self-diagnosed shoe addict, pointed toe sandals and slingbacks might be my favorite of the 2024 fashion trends?though they had to grow on me. (Before I could fully adopt the trend, I had to erase the image of the Wicked Witch under Dorothy?s house from my mind.) Now, I see the shoes for their chic ability to elongate your legs and add sass to a look. Try pairing a pointed-toe with a long trouser or jean, letting just the tip of the shoe make its point?metaphorically and literally.
?Florals? For spring? Groundbreaking.? Anyone who loves fashion knows the famous line from the film The Devil Wears Prada. A clich? ignored by many fashion designers, judging by the numerous shows featuring the floral motif. Cherished by Alexander McQueen, the red rose lent its petals to an impressive red dress ? also reminiscing a venomous vulva ? or played the emblem on a leather dress. At Chlo?, voluminous flowers in black tulle decorated a tone-on-tone dress. More classic, Chanel, Balenciaga and Carolina Herrera rely on all-over pink and purple floral prints, while Prada fringed shirts composed a floral motif, and orchids are painted on a black silk dress at Givenchy. At Simone Rocha, fresh-cut roses were encapsulated in tulle. At Dsquared2, Balmain, and AZ Factory, bright flowers adorned minidresses. Finally, a special mention for the bouquet-like couture creations seen on the Balmain, Marni, and Loewe catwalks.
?We?re heading into a new year ? and a new red carpet season ? and I?m predicting a real return to glamour,? she says. ?Even if you?re not in the market for an evening gown, you can elevate your look with a rivi?re necklace, a show-stopping earring or an ?It? bag.?
